Ultra Violette Review: The First SPF I Actually Want to Wear Every Day

I have a confession to make: I’ve never been a consistent sunscreen person.

Not because I don’t want to protect my skin - I do. But if you have sensitive skin, you probably understand the struggle. Some SPFs burn, some pill immediately under makeup, some feel greasy and heavy, and others melt right off your face the second temperatures hit 90 degrees.

Over the years, I’ve kind of Goldilocks’d my way through sunscreen brands trying to find one that actually works for me: not too greasy, not too drying, not irritating, not impossible under makeup.

And after testing three products from Ultra Violette during several 95+ degree New York City heatwave days… I finally understand why people are obsessed with this brand.

Ultra Violette describes their products as “SKINSCREENS” - skincare-meets-sunscreen hybrids designed to feel lightweight, layer well, and actually make you want to wear SPF daily. After trying them, I kind of get the hype.

What it is: A lightweight mineral SPF50 sunscreen with a subtle tint and dewy finish. Ultra Violette says this formula is best for combo, sensitive, and oily skin, and contains Japanese zinc, squalane, and vitamin E.

My experience: The formula has a very slight tint, so I decided to test it mostly on its own without foundation to see how my skin looked naturally. I only added a tiny bit of concealer over a few dark spots. The finish is very dewy at first - almost glossy.

What impressed me the most is that it didn’t feel greasy or like it was sliding off my face.

Usually when I sweat in the summer, I can feel sunscreen breaking apart on my skin. This stayed put. There was initially a slightly tacky feeling, but in a reassuring way - like the product was actually adhering to my skin instead of evaporating into the humidity. As it settled in, the tackiness faded and the finish became more natural.

As someone who wears minimal makeup most days, this honestly gives me the exact “healthy summer skin” look I want.

Best for:
- Minimal makeup days
- Sensitive skin
- People who want glow
- Anyone who hates heavy mineral sunscreens

Possible downside: If you strongly dislike dewy finishes, this may feel too glowy at first application.

What it is: A hydrating SPF50 sunscreen designed to function as moisturizer, primer, and sunscreen in one.Ultra Violette describes this as their “one-and-done” SKINSCREEN, formulated with Pentavitin and squalane for hydration.

My experience: Where Future Screen is glowy and slightly editorial-feeling, Supreme Screen feels balanced and effortless. The finish is more satin than dewy, and it layers beautifully under makeup.

I tested it alone on a hot day, over moisturizer and under light makeup and every time it just… worked. No white cast. No greasiness. No dryness. No weird texture issues. Honestly, this might be one of the most cosmetically elegant sunscreens I’ve ever tried.

It feels lightweight while still giving enough hydration that my skin doesn’t feel tight or dry later in the day. I also noticed it played exceptionally well with makeup - no pilling or separation, even in humid weather.

Best for:
- Everyday wear
- Makeup layering
- Dry to combo skin
- People who want SPF that feels invisible

My verdict: If you only try one product from the brand, I honestly think this is the safest universal recommendation.

What it is: A fine SPF50 mist designed for sunscreen reapplication throughout the day, even over makeup.

My experience: I love the idea of this product. Because realistically, reapplying sunscreen is where most of us fail. Especially if we’re wearing makeup.

The mist is ultra-fine, easy to use, and leaves behind a slightly dewy finish. I can absolutely see this being useful for: beach and pool days, hikes, outdoor events, sweaty summer afternoons, etc.

I think this product works best when you’re prioritizing sun protection over looking perfectly matte or polished. It definitely adds glow, and I’d personally reserve it for situations where I’m outdoors and actively sweating anyway.

My verdict: Not an everyday essential for me personally, but something I’d absolutely throw into a beach bag or keep for heavy outdoor days.

After trying the sunscreens, I know I’ll be purchasing their lip balms ASAP. If you think I’m bad at applying SPF to my face, I am TERRIBLE at taking care of my lips. I’ve even been scolded by a dermatologist or two because of the freckles formed near my lips. This is my solemn vow to do better. You should too!
