The Brightwood Skin Review: Inside Brooklyn Heights' Newest Aesthetics Practice

The Brightwood recently expanded again, this time opening a beautiful new location on Montague Street in the heart of Brooklyn Heights.

When they invited me in for a consultation and their complimentary mini DiamondGlow facial, I was immediately intrigued - not just because I've reached that point in my mid-30s where I'm paying a little more attention to my skin, but because their philosophy felt...refreshing.

The Brightwood isn't about chasing trends or dramatic transformations. Their entire approach is rooted in subtle refinement, helping people look like themselves, just a little more rested, balanced, and refreshed. Instead of trying to change your face, they focus on understanding it first. I really appreciated that.

A Little Bit of Kismet on Montague Street

Their newest practice is tucked away on Montague Street, one of my favorite streets in Brooklyn Heights.

This location actually ended up feeling a little sentimental for me. My mom, dad, and many of their friends all worked on Montague years ago, so hearing the address immediately made my mom smile. Walking those same sidewalks decades later on my way to a skincare consultation felt like one of those funny little full-circle moments life occasionally hands you.

Inside, the space feels exactly how you'd hope a luxury aesthetic practice would feel. Warm wood tones, marble floors, soft lighting, elegant navy walls, fresh flowers, cozy seating - it manages to feel elevated without feeling intimidating. More boutique hotel than medical office.

It's calm. It's beautiful. And somehow still feels welcoming.

What The Brightwood Offers

The Brightwood focuses exclusively on the face and neck, with treatments designed to enhance - not erase - your natural features. Rather than thinking about aesthetics as "fixing" something, they approach treatment planning through facial harmony, balance, and skin health.

Some of the services they offer include:

  • Wrinkle Relaxers

  • Dermal Fillers

  • Sculptra

  • DiamondGlow

  • BBL + Moxi Laser

  • Microneedling + PRP

  • Chemical Peels

  • AquaGold

  • Wedding treatment planning and timelines

One thing I found particularly interesting is their wedding program. Rather than squeezing treatments in right before the big day, they build personalized timelines so everything has time to settle naturally before photos and celebrations.

If you're curious about any of their treatments, I'd definitely recommend exploring their website, where they go into much greater detail about each service and their philosophy.

My Consultation

One thing I appreciated almost immediately was that my consultation never felt like someone was trying to "sell" me procedures. Instead, Nicole (the clinician I met with) spent time getting to know my concerns and looking at my face as a whole.

If you've followed me for a while, you probably know I've talked about my jaw clenching and bruxism before. I clench my teeth when I'm stressed, I grind them in my sleep, and apparently I also scowl with Olympic-level commitment while unconscious.

Seriously.

I've even slept wearing those silicone forehead patches (basically fancy Frownies) because I catch myself furrowing my brow so intensely overnight.

Sometimes I even wake up with headaches from it!

During my consultation, Nicole explained that therapeutic masseter Botox could potentially help relax the muscles responsible for all that clenching. Interestingly, this wasn't the first time I'd heard that suggestion - a dentist had recommended it to me a while back as well, though I wasn't quite ready to take the leap at the time.

I'm also considering a very conservative amount of wrinkle relaxer in my "11" lines - the vertical lines between the eyebrows - not because I think wrinkles are bad, but because apparently my forehead spends half the night auditioning for a Shakespeare tragedy.

The recommendation wasn't about changing my face. It was about helping overworked muscles relax, easing some of the tension I've been carrying, and making subtle, natural-looking improvements.

That felt very aligned with The Brightwood's philosophy as a whole.

If You're Curious...

The Brightwood generously gave me a referral link to share, which gives you $50 off any treatment.

If you've been curious about aesthetics but weren't sure where to start, I actually think a consultation is the perfect first step. Even if you decide not to move forward with anything, it's a great opportunity to learn more about your own facial anatomy, skin, and the options that exist.
